Liberal Arts and Transfer Programs

Facebook Twitter Linkedin Plusone Email

At Hawkeye, you complete the first two years of your four-year degree and transfer to the four-year college or university of your choice as a junior! When you earn your Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, you are completing the general education requirements and recommended and/or required elective courses for your four-year bachelor’s degree.

Liberal Arts AA & AS Transfer

The Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Liberal Arts is designed for transfer to a four-year college. Courses are articulated with Iowa’s Regent universities. Students earning an Associate of Arts degree will meet most general education requirements and be admitted with junior standing.

The Associate of Science (AS) degree enables a student to focus his or her education on the fields of math or science, meet most general education requirements, and be admitted as a junior at most four-year colleges and universities. Due to the nature of sequential courses, students must work with a Hawkeye academic advisor for major-specific transfer information and to register for classes.

Students may choose an emphasis area to help guide them in selection of electives and may also help students determine if a major or career track is the right choice.

Fine and Performing Arts
Global Studies
Health Sciences Transfer

A variety of agricultural, mathematics, sciences, and liberal arts courses are offered to prepare students to transfer to public or private four-year colleges and universities.

The Associate of Science in Agricultural Science allows graduates to enter four-year colleges or universities with 65 credits and/or junior standing. The courses in this program also allow for entry-level employment if the graduate decides to postpone his or her transfer.

Business Administration Transfer

The Associate of Arts in Business Administration degree is designed for students who plan to continue their studies toward a four-year degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Management, Information Systems, or Finance at the University of Northern Iowa or at another Iowa Regent university or private college.

Criminal Justice Transfer

The Criminal Justice program is designed to allow students to complete the first two years of a four-year bachelor’s degree program. A variety of courses from a wide range of disciplines is offered to prepare students to transfer to public or private four-year colleges and universities. This degree offers a balanced distribution of criminal justice courses and liberal arts electives.

The Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice degree enables graduates to enter four-year colleges with junior standing. If graduates decide to postpone their transfer, the courses in the program could prepare them for entry-level employment in the criminal justice career field.
