Career Academies give you the opportunity to earn college credit and may include hands-on experience in the workplace. Courses are offered at your high school, at Hawkeye’s main campus, or at one of the college’s other centers. Many classes are free, since your high school pays for the courses and may provide textbooks.

Are you creative and artistic? The Art Academy gives you a chance to explore a career in graphic design, video production, and photography while earning college credit before you graduate from high school!
Automotive Technology Academy
Explore a career in the automotive field while earning college credit before you graduate from high school! This academy will give you hands-on experience in testing and diagnosing, engine drivability diagnosis, automatic transmissions, gas engines, suspension, alignment, brakes, and basic electricity.
Criminal Justice Academy
You will gain basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, its operations, and purpose. The criminal justice field will continue to grow through 2018 as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor. Jobs as police officers and detectives are growing by about 10 percent and jobs for probation officers and correctional specialists are growing by 19 percent.
EMC2 (CNC Machining and Tool-Making Technology)
Hawkeye has partnered with high schools in our service area to offer students a plan for a career in advanced manufacturing. EMC2 program gives you a chance to explore an advanced manufacturing career while earning college credit, money, and hands-on experience.
Health Science Academy
Explore a career in the health field while earning college credit before you graduate from high school! This academy will begin to prepare you for entering the healthcare workforce in medical and dental offices, hospitals, laboratories, long-term care facilities, and more.
Liberal Arts Academy (General Education)
Designed for high school students interested in earning their four-year degree, you can complete the Liberal Arts Academy in high school, earn your associate degree at Hawkeye, and transfer to the four-year college or university of your choice!
Office Technology Academy
The Office Technology Academy gives you a chance to explore a career in the business field while earning college credit before you graduate from high school! This academy will give you hands-on experience with keyboarding, accounting, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
The Welding academy prepares you for entry into the industry as a beginning production, maintenance, or job shop welder. You are trained using the latest techniques in the fabrication of materials by welding processes. Your school district pays for the courses and provides the textbooks.
